CALSPro Needs Your Feedback Re: Court Efficiencies
Posted October 25, 2012 in Membership
Dear CALSPro Member,
Working in the courts every day, CALSPro members are acutely aware of the impacts of state budget cuts on local operations. From Shasta County to San Diego, and all points in between, local courts are reacting to dramatically reduced revenues from the state general fund. Impacts include courthouse closures, civil trial department reductions, reduced filing hours, and more. Further, if Governor Brown’s tax initiative does not pass in November, it is possible that further reductions could occur.
CALSPro is uniquely situated to assemble information on attorney service issues in the local courts. If your county has closed courthouses or court rooms, reduced window hours for filing, etc., please forward any information in your possession to the central office in Sacramento, via the address below. With 58 counties statewide, it is difficult to know what is happening in the various courts. CALSPro is particularly interested in knowing how the reductions in hours and services are affecting our attorney service members.
Additionally, if you have ideas for efficiencies which might be communicated to court leadership, we are interested in hearing them. Very intensive discussions will be occurring throughout the coming months concerning court efficiencies, and CALSPro members may have specific, practical suggestions which can help courts maximize their diminished resources. Suggestions also should be submitted to the central office for communication, as appropriate, to leaders of individual courts and the Judicial Council.
Thank you for your time and participation.
